Established in 1983 by Chris Woodhouse, who came from a background in timber sales, he saw an opportunity to close the gap in the timber market.
Built on the foundations of quality products and excellent customer service, it has grown from its warehouse in Brisbane to a national presence with additional warehouses in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth, employing over 90 staff members across Australia.

Over 40 years of trusted quality
Building strong relationships from day one
The company’s early collaboration with suppliers in New Zealand laid the foundation for what would become a long-standing, trusted partnership. From the beginning, Chris worked closely with builders, listening to their feedback and understanding their needs. This direct input from the industry allowed him to develop products that address the challenges builders face on-site.
Products such as Weatherproof and Edgeline are prime examples of this approach. Weatherproof, a pre-primed, FSC®-certified H3-treated timber, was specifically designed with builders’ needs in mind: durable, easy to handle, and ready for immediate use. Edgeline, a range of interior mouldings, was created to focus on easy painting and installation.

Chris Woodhouse, the founder of Woodhouse Timber, established the company in 1983 with a vision to offer clients high-quality timber products at an affordable price. With a background in timber sales, he saw an opportunity to prioritise quality over price in an industry often focused on cost. Now retired, Chris’s legacy continues through his sons, Mark and Drew, who continue to lead the company with the same commitment to excellence that he started.

Mark has been with the company for over 20 years, bringing a results-driven approach to every aspect of the business. His mission is to innovate and enhance all sectors, from finance and operations to human resources and marketing, while building a strong team of experts to meet business goals. Growing up in the family business, Mark developed an approachable communication style and refined his business skills, continuously identifying new opportunities to drive growth and sustain the company’s success.

Drew Woodhouse, Director of Warehouse Operations and Workplace Health and Safety, has been with Woodhouse Timber for over 20 years, previously serving as Chief Operating Officer. With extensive experience in operations and a strong focus on maintaining a safe and productive workplace, Drew plays an important role in overseeing warehouse functions and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. His dedication to operational standards and employee well-being has contributed significantly to the company’s success.
